This Old House

I was surprised to see what had happened to the house on Friday. The siding guys would not be back until doors and window changes were complete on the old house and I figured that wouldn't happen until we gut the kitchen, after the first of the year. I came home to the west side of house looking like this:

To summarize, both of those windows are coming out. In the area just next to window (to the right of it from this angle) will go a new French door. This is what that area looks like from the inside:

This is what it looked like when I got home:

Most of the work today happened on the outside, which I don't have a good pix of because of course, it's dark when I get home. But, they've built the porch to go out the French doors and connect with the existing deck.

That wall to the left separates the breakfast nook from the back porch area:

This wall is going away as are the stairs next to it. In place of the stairs will be the new pantry (YAY !!) But we can't do any of that til we get some of this stuff up the old stairs, before the new stairs goes in. At least two desks and most of the computer equipment needs to get moved into the new office before we can dismantle the stairs. The new stairs will be pretty snug to get these old, large desks upstairs.

I'll try to get a pix of the new back porch before I leave in the morning, but now it's kind of dark both coming and going to work. The French door supposedly will be cut in and installed tomorrow.
