Much of the recent work on the house has been done on the outside. While it is necessary, it is not necessarily entertaining, photogenic or fun. I have pix of the new concrete somewhere, but with cameraphone, digital phone, smart cards, I can't find the ones I want. I might have to take new shots. I will post those later.
In the last week, we got new stairs to the front porch.
The plumbing inspector (?) noted that this is noncompliant. The rail needs to be a certain number of inches so you can grasp around it. We will probably install a smaller circular rail, attached "inside" the wooden rail. The slant at top of porch is due to a) settling of the porch or b) the fact that a slight slope (although probably not this much) was designed in for rain runoff. The stairs are level. The porch is not.
While we are not "officially" doing much with the rooms upstairs, there will clearly need to be some work done. These were taken before the new bit of floor, and the stairs were put in. There should be a nice open loft-type space here when we're done. The third pix is of some of the old electrical wiring still in-use that will either be redone or hidden in the new walls of the stairwell.
Inside looks much the same except that plumber and electrician have started rough-in work.
Finally, the balcony was completed and the Construction Stairway of Death. Is dead.
