And then there was one...

During this whole process, it's been typical to refer to the "old house" and "the new house", or "the addition" or "the annex" or "the project". We basically had two structures sitting next to each other, attached at the wall, but two separate "beings".

It still looks a lot like two structures here (until the siders finish their job):

But not so much any more from here:

We can now get to both floors of the addition from our existing bedroom. It is not easy - stepstools and ladders. But it can be done. L finished all the lock and security structures so the entire building can be locked from the inside. We can start moving small stuff around by passing it through this hole in the wall. Eventually, the new stairway will be here.

One advantage is we have better air circulation in new construction. Also, after our bedroom being reduced and landlocked with no natural light since August 13, we will have some light streaming in from the windows. I can't wait to see light in the morning.

It took Joey less than 5 minutes to check out the noise, and the new stuff. We took him over there once just before they started the drywall, and he was SO curious. Last night, Joey jumped down into it and didn't come back for 30 minutes. He keeps going back to check it out again and again. Mosa, not so much. We placed her on the upper floor, she looked around for about 5 minutes, wailing the whole time, then I suppose she thought she was lost, until L went to fetch her. We've warned the workmen about the cats, but neither one wants to get anywhere NEAR the area when strangers are afoot.

It's still obviously very different from one side to the other, but they are already beginning to feel like parts of ONE HOUSE.

Today, the electricians and siding guys are here. There will be more pix!
