Day 008 - Let 'er Rip

So, the guys showed up about 10, but once they got there, they got moving.
So far, still an air-conditioned room...

Behind the awful, gray fake wood paneling, was some equally awful pink paint, which looks suspiciously like the color of the house exterior when we moved in in '91. Thankfully, I don't have any pix of that. But L was saying, it looks like it had a fairly high, Victorian-style baseboard in place.
The last bit of natural light this room is gonna see for several months.
See, the pink wall there. We lost all but about 12 inches of that space.
Oh yeah, there are two other windows that got pulled and covered. This is the Living Room. The wall between the two will be removed to make one larger Living Room.

See the white door in the background? That's the entrance to the bathroom, and the temporary wall butts right up to that door.
This is from the SW corner of property line. We had a long-ago leak into the 1st-floor bedroom. L says you can see the water stains on the very old tarpaper.
This is where the scope of project truly begins to overwhelm.
Our new wall, about 40 inches in from where it was.

There is about 12 inches between edge of bed and the new wall. We had to use the hose to vacuum up because it wouldn't fit in there. And yes, once they were done, we stripped the bed (grin).

This part kind of creeps me out - there are huge holes at top of foundation where they pulled the siding. L covered the spots temporarily to keep the cats from getting out, but I'm worried about stuff getting IN.

About 20 man-hours in, end of day.
