Post 100 - Chimney Now, Loft Later

Just realized, this is the 100th entry to the blog. Hope we're done by Entry 150? Me too!

Bits and pieces are going on. We still have not settled on a drywaller. We are not using the guys that did the Addition because they were pretty sloppy. There were chunks of leftover mud everywhere, in door openings, on the floors, etc.

The exterior wall of Living Room (east) and the wall that joins with addition (south) have been stripped of the original panelling, wallpaper, and lath&plaster, to the original studs and external walls.

Ironically, the room is lighter now than it was when we lived in it due to the absence of the heavy drapes and the addition of the glass insert in Entry Door.

L has continued to add batts of installation. He put some in the powder room and the walls of the Dining Room. There is both a window and a door in that corner.

There will be a dropped ceiling in the Dining Room. Hopefully, it will look like a design feature. It's actually being done to hide the plumbing and drain pipes from top floor bathroom.

The big thing right now is that the chimney is coming out tomorrow.

They will need to get into the Yarn Room to access the top section of the chimney. We're just throwing dropcloths over everything in there, for now, as there's no place else to put the stuff.

The "puzzle room" (L is now calling it "The Study",) has been generally emptied and two walls partially demo'd.

One of those walls contains the French Door that L put in at least 10 years ago. Obviously, we're keeping that. Here's a view from the Living Room and from the far end of the room, looking into the Living Room.

But, other than that, not much is going on (grin).

It's looking pretty good. I really like the archways.
